Senior Account Manager (Consumer & Entertainment)
The Role
We are currently seeking Senior Account Manager or an established Account Manager with experience in Consumer and Entertainment PR. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in PR, ideally in the consumer lifestyle, Entertainment or FMCG sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with extensive experience writing creative and eye-catching press releases.
- Existing relevant media contacts within the consumer industry is desirable.
- Day to day campaign management and managing junior members of the team.
Role & responsibilities
This role is essential to ensure that client account teams run smoothly, and campaigns/press offices are managed effectively for clients.
Ultimately, we’re looking for you to be enthusiastic and proactive in:
- Having a 360-degree awareness of what’s happening across your client accounts, ensuring that all work is moving forward in a timely fashion, and within budget
- Taking responsibility for weekly work planning, ensuring that everyone is clear on their responsibilities and delivery deadlines are not missed
- You must have a deep understanding of your client, extending beyond the functional fundamentals (products/services, competitors, category, media etc.) to form strong relationships that enable you to pre-empt queries and judge how your client is feeling – even if that means reading between the lines
- You must be confident in providing effective counsel, using your expertise, experience, and knowledge to advise your clients on the best course of action and accurately manage expectations
- Beginning to develop your commercial awareness, you should be building your understanding of the financial workings of an agency, forward planning and spotting opportunities to generate revenue and assisting your Account Directors / Associates in capacity planning and monitoring account resource
- Troubleshooting and navigating campaign curveballs in a proactive, solutions focussed manner, sense-checking with your Account Directors / Associates where necessary
- An effective campaign manager, you’ll know how to take a bird’s eye view of your accounts to keep your clients happy whilst keeping one eye on the detail to ensure the smooth running of all projects
- Helping to craft and edit the team’s work to ensure its as client ready as possible for senior team to review
- Motivating and coaching your junior team, whilst keeping them accountable for their actions and identifying opportunities for growth
- Committed to delivering great work, you won’t settle for less than exceptional – be that delivering campaign results that smash KPIS or ensuring work that leaves your desk has been through rigorous quality control and is client ready
- Being able to manage and motivate yourself and the team to power through actions, and be proactive in suggesting ways to continually improve ways of working
- Providing seamless support to your Account Directors / Associates where needed
Skills & experience
These are the types of things we’re looking for in candidates:
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt writing to suit different audiences
- Great attention to detail, must be able to spot spelling mistakes or grammatical errors
- Passion for media relations across a variety of sectors e.g. national news, consumer lifestyle, regional, parenting etc. with great media contacts
- Tenacious approach to media sell-ins with experience drafting media strategies and sell-in plans, managing sell-ins and driving media outreach. The candidate will have an excellent understanding of the media landscape
- Experience working with talent/ influencers / their agents including the briefing process
- Good understanding of the influencer landscape and influencer marketing channels
- Aptitude for building client relations that comes from experience being client-facing – including an understanding of how to manage tricky client situations
- Good communications and interpersonal skills at every level, and a high regard for confidentiality when needed
- Creative thinking skills to identify proactive ideas, newsjacking opportunities, press office tactics and influencer activations. The candidate will also proactively contribute to brainstorms for bigger campaign activations/ ideation
- Great organisational skills, being able to juggle lots of different actions day-to-day across varying accounts
- Strong IT skills across Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint – we use MacBooks at Tin Man
- Experience working on both big, multi-layered brand campaigns as well as running press offices. Experience with news generation campaigns is preferable (including crafting research questions, managing radio days)
- Agency environments can be fast-paced and full-on, so the ability to work well under pressure and previous experience working in a fast-paced, agency environment (or similar) is essential
- Essentially, we’re looking for someone smart, organised and driven - with a proactive attitude who is not afraid to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in
